So I bought this black PRS off ebay with a broken peghead. Good price, figured I could repair it and flip it pretty quick.

UPS shows up with the box, I slice it open and pulled out a perfect white PRS with no damage.

Someone in shipping goofed, right? I've left multiple messages for the seller - no response.

Good karma for me? Christmas bonus? All I know is I got a sweet PRS for about 20 percent of list price.

I would say you got a great deal if he doesn't get back to you. Flip it and pocket the cash...

I had the opposite happen to me on the CF-100 I am restoring. Found it on Ebay and figured I would bid on it. I had a set price in mind so with a few minutes of the auction ending it was close to my price and I put the bid in and got it.... I was happy. That was until it showed up on my doorstep. I opened the box and saw that the person selling it didn't describe the problems with it other than it would probably need a neck reset. Even the pictures he posted didn't show what the guitar really was so I was all set to contact Ebay and send it back. But I decided to contact the seller who happens to be a guy named Jim at Cottonwood Music and told him that what he sold me did not match the photos or the description of what I received. I told him if he had been accurate I would have never bid that high. He replied to me and asked me what would be the top amount I would have bid and I told him. He refunded me the difference plus $100. He said he was really sorry and hoped that would make up for his mistake. So I picked up that CF-100 for much less than I would have even wanted to pay for it.

So As much as people complain about buying things on ebay I have had some great buys and found people to be pretty honest. I say, try contacting the guy again and if he doesn't respond it is your gain. He may just end up like the guy at Cottonwood music and tell you to keep it.

Cheers,
Bob

And shortly after that, the idiot seller will contact me.

Explain to the seller that you're ticked you got a Squire Affinity instead of the PRS. If he asks for it back, go buy one and send it back to him.

And when you're done with the PRS you sell it to a new friend 8-) for a whopping 10% proffit!

Hmmm.... I like the way you think, Allan!

Well, I did a search for the guy's phone number, and spoke with his wife (ain't the web a wonderful thing?). She told me he'd call as soon as he got home. Believe me, the guy was freaked out! He knew he didn't have much to stand on if I wanted to keep the shiny new PRS and leave him positive feedback. But I had mercy on him, because I am honest. I will box the white thing back up (free of charge), and have it ready for UPS to pick up on Monday. I told him I wanted that black PRS on the truck pronto! He said he would. And now.... I wait again.

Thanks, Dan. I hope he gets with it, or he'll find out I'm not always nice, even if I'm honest.

Chris,
The good thing is that ebay supports it's buyers over sellers every time. If a buyer is not happy with something (even if the seller states "No Returns" ebay will always support the buyer.

I hope he is picking up the shipping on you having to send it back or your "deal" just got more expensive.

I like the fact you contacted him, it shows you are an honest guy [:Y:]

I hope the broken one turns out to be an easy fix for you.

Cheers,
Bob

Darn! Honesty and character wins out over greed!

But the friend may still have an opportunity for a nice repaired PRS...

Well, Bob - he's supposed to get a "will call" from UPS. No funds from my pocket. I did box it up again nicely - so I'm out a little tape. No biggie.

As for the repaired axe, Allan - one never knows..... do one? It will need a PRS whammy, if you know where to find one. Or I can turn it into a hardtail without much trouble. Lemme know.

Actually I've got at least 2 flips and another 3 or 4 to sell before I spend money on anything new. And I've never been a whamy bar guy.

Besides, I sat and played chords for about 15 minutes last night. Today my elbow hurts where I had the surgery  , so I guess i just need to stick to bass for a while.

When I shaved clean daily I used to do it in the shower by feel.
Nowadays with some stringy stuff on my face.... no.

My 60th comes up in about 6 months. Maybe I should try a naked face again on that day? Everybody would think I was 20 years younger.

You did the right thing. I have done this where the boxes got mixed up before mailing. Put the shipping label on the wrong ones. I now write the name and address on each box before mailing.

Swapped boxes with the UPS man today. Will post pictures of the damage later. I think it's quite saveable, but I wish all the little slivers and chips were still in the gigbag. I only found one!

At least it looks like a reasonably clean break. Probably be invisible if the refinished area blends well.

Yeah - on the back.
On the front - not so well.
I think I will glue it up and veneer the face.

Interesting that PRS doesn't have a veener on the head at all. And at least it's black...
